Cupela – the foremost Global Leadership Coaching in India

Rajeev Shroff

Global Leadership Coach® | Former Avaya and Oracle Executive

I have spent my career building organisations, developing leaders, and helping people take on opportunities that once seemed beyond their reach.

Today, I coach senior leaders in Global Capability Centres and the India operations of multinational companies. Before founding Cupela in 2011, I spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles at Oracle and Avaya. I know the transition many of my clients face: they are trusted to run a demanding operation, but need to become more visible and influential with global decision-makers.

Building and leading global operations

I joined Oracle’s India Development Centre in 1994 as its third employee and spent 11 years helping establish and grow the organisation. My responsibilities spanned global product support, ERP product development, IT operations, and venture initiatives.

I then served as Vice President of Global Software Services at Avaya. My responsibilities extended across India, Argentina, and China, with more than 2,000 people and a budget of approximately $50 million. Leading at that scale taught me how much depends on the quality of decisions, relationships, and leadership beneath the operating numbers.

That experience is the foundation of my coaching. I understand the difference between performing exceptionally in a local role and earning the trust to shape a global agenda.

Coaching leaders for larger roles

For more than 15 years, I have coached senior leaders in the GCCs and India operations of companies including Amazon, Dell, D. E. Shaw, Herbalife, Oracle, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Samsung, Verizon, and VMware.

My clients often need to move from operational ownership to strategic influence. They may need to build stronger relationships across time zones, make their thinking visible to global stakeholders, or step into a broader mandate. I bring the judgement of a former executive and the discipline of a coach to those conversations.

I held the International Coaching Federation’s Master Certified Coach credential from 2019 to 2022. I was also a member of the Forbes Coaches Council from 2019 to 2023. Those are past credentials and affiliations; my continuing work is represented by the leaders I coach and the results they and their stakeholders observe.

Entrepreneur, advisor, and investor

My work outside large corporations has kept me close to the realities of building something new. I founded Ten Innovate, an angel investment group focused on the Oracle alumni community, and have advised organisations including SmartDrive, Travelspice, Rang De, and the Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator.

Working with founders and growing organisations has broadened my perspective on leadership. The challenge is often to create direction, build a capable team, and make good decisions before the answers are obvious.

Improving the quality of coaching

I want leadership coaching in India to be more credible and more useful to organisations. My State of Leadership Coaching in India 2025 study gathered the views of 132 HR leaders and examined concerns about coach quality, sponsor involvement, and evidence of impact.

I have also created a practical guidebook for HR leaders, sponsors, and coaches. Its purpose is to help them set clearer expectations, support the leader during an engagement, and judge progress more thoughtfully. This work reflects my belief that coaching should be connected to observable leadership change.
